My Journey, My Growth

My name is Hanifa El-Safadi, an educator who thrives on building meaningful connections and embracing diverse perspectives. My journey has taken me across two countries and cultures, each contributing to my evolving understanding of education. I grew up in Canada, where I developed a deep appreciation for diversity and personal responsibility, before moving to Lebanon at 15, where I encountered an entirely different education system. Adapting to a new cultural and social environment taught me resilience and flexibility, skills that continue to shape my approach to teaching. After returning to Canada, I was faced with new challenges and dynamics, which continue to push me to grow and adapt in an ever-changing world. These experiences have not only enriched my perspective but have also fueled my passion for learning and teaching.

My Professional Evolution

Teaching wasn’t always my calling. However, as I connected with my students and witnessed their growth, I discovered how fulfilling and meaningful it could be. What started as a job quickly became something I deeply enjoyed, fueled by the bonds I built with my students and the impact I could have on their learning journeys.

My time at Rafic Hariri High School, a PYP (Primary Years Programme) institution, was pivotal in shaping my teaching philosophy. There, I embraced inquiry-based learning and cultivated a classroom culture that encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Over six years, I honed my expertise in English and math, developing an adaptive and student-centered approach that prioritizes personalized learning and intellectual growth.

Academic Journey: Pursuing Knowledge Relentlessly

My academic journey began with a passion for English language and literature, which led me to earn a BA and an MA in the field. These experiences deepened my understanding of language, communication, and the art of storytelling. Currently, I am pursuing a second MA in Interdisciplinary Studies, driven by my interest in uncovering connections between diverse fields. Its courses are empowering me to integrate knowledge from various disciplines, fostering fresh insights and contributing to the advancement of both education and innovation.

Innovative Teaching: My YouTube Channel

I recently started an educational YouTube channel to make English and math concepts accessible and engaging for young learners. I focus on creating short and effective videos to help students understand foundational concepts. This platform allows me to extend my reach beyond my immediate students, offering free and valuable resources to learners worldwide.

Current Role: Empowering Students as a Tutor

As a part-time tutor with Tutor Doctor, I strive to make a difference in students’ lives by offering one-on-one support tailored to their individual needs. I focus on creating personalized plans for each student, building their confidence, and helping them achieve their academic goals.
